We Are the Champions! NMFTA Joins Critical Cybersecurity Awareness Effort

NMFTA is thrilled to announce that we’ve signed on with the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) as a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion for 2023!

This October marks NCA’s 20th annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so we’ve carefully planned our eagerly anticipated Digital Solutions Conference on Cybersecurity for October 22-25, 2023 in Houston, TX, further highlighting our commitment to keeping our industry cyber safe.

While our work in cybersecurity focuses on the trucking industry’s needs, our role as a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion reminds us that the critical necessity for vigorous cybersecurity impacts every industry, big and small—from school systems and the government down to mom-and-pop shops and non-profits.

Just one look at the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion list of participants offers an eye-opening glimpse into how much demand for robust cybersecurity exists today. This list is a mirror reflection of the American economy itself, showing that every industry recognizes the threat from cyberattackers. We are all interdependent on one another’s success in protecting against cyberattacks—every time a cyberattacker successfully hacks into one organization, everyone that the organization interacts with is also at risk.

The NCA generously offers numerous resources during Cybersecurity Awareness Month that can help educate businesses and organizations like yours. A few resources that caught our eye include:

  • A survival guide on how to survive a hack or ransomware attack.
  • Tip sheets on taking protective steps like multi-factor authentication, password management, software updates, and phishing.
  • Links to helpful social media posts and graphics.
  • A partner overview that covers the essentials of cybersecurity.
  • A report on cybersecurity attitudes and behaviors

The NCA also offers toolkits on cyberbullying, vacation and travel security, online romance scams, and online holiday shopping. You can even get a videoconference background that touts Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

We like how NCA approaches cybersecurity with poise and calm, sticking to facts and offering practical advice. After all, learning about cybersecurity, including proactively protecting your business or organization, doesn’t have to be a frightening experience.

This year represents the 20th Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and we are proud to have been at the forefront of this effort for many of those years. This past year alone, we published multiple articles on relevant issues in cybersecurity. Some of our most popular include:

We’re determined to help our industry stay ahead of the threats. That’s why we’re proud to participate in the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion for 2023.

After all, that’s what you expect a champion to do.
