During the webinar, Erika Voss, Ph.D., discussed cybersecurity concerns when dealing with third parties. The webinar covered crucial aspect of cybersecurity that involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating the risks associated with third-party vendors, suppliers, contractors, or partners that have access to an organization’s systems, data, or networks. It also covered risk management, the process of identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks, followed by the application of resources to minimize, control, and monitor the impact or probability of a cyber incident. In simpler terms, it’s about understanding what could go wrong in the business and determining how likely it is to happen, and taking steps to mitigate or manage those risks.

Erika Voss is the vice president of information security for DAT Freight & Analytics. In this role she leads the vision, strategy, and execution for all facets of security for this Supply Chain Logistics corporation. Erika brings two decades of extraordinary success in a series of high-level roles at top tier companies that include Capital One, Salesforce, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Corporation and Amazon Web Services. 

Erika’s invaluable expertise and broad business range have powered a history of developing successful process improvements that drive productivity, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Such traits have consistently enabled Erika to achieve an impressive command of the skills needed to manage ongoing business planning processes while developing strategies to meet future challenges.

Erika holds a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity from Northcentral University, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Security Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Operations Technology from Southwestern College.


Cara Walls is the Director of Cybersecurity at the NMFTA. She is a distinguished supply chain expert with over a decade of experience as a people and thought leader in cybersecurity for highly regulated global industries and companies such as Coyote Logistics, UMB, H&R Block, and New York Life. Cara is a recognized thought leader and frequent speaker within the cybersecurity industry. She holds many top cybersecurity certificates and accolades, with her work being presented at several national conferences. Her unique background in trucking and logistics, coupled with her expertise in cybersecurity research from the University of Louisiana Graduate Program, where she is a Lead Instructor and Curriculum Developer, has positioned her as a vital asset to the transportation sector.
