About the Classification Resource Committee:

Any officer, owner or employee of a participating motor carrier that has signed the National Motor Freight Traffic Participaction Agreement can apply for membership to the Classification Resource Committee (CRC).

The CRC shall consist of members from the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico. The Chairman of the CRC shall have the authority to fill any vacancy on the CRC by appointment.

The CRC is responsible for:

  • Advising the Freight Classification Development Council (FCDC) on matters relating to the classification content of the NMFC and the FCDC’s Policies and Directives, and making recommendations to the FCDC regarding classification research activities relating to the NMFC;
  • Considering and making recommendations to the FCDC regarding commodity descriptions; classes; rules; packaging definitions, specifications or requirements; and any other classification provisions contained in the NMFC; and
  • Formulating and submitting proposals to the FCDC to amend the commodity descriptions; classes; rules; packaging definitions, specifications or requirements; and any other classification provisions contained in the NMFC.
