NMFTA staff will provide detailed instruction on the NMFC LTL packaging definitions, specifications and requirements, and how to properly apply the provisions of the classification system. This three-part webinar series educates carriers, shippers, 3PLs, and packaging professionals in understanding packaging and its relationship to motor freight classification and claims.
Module 1 – Tuesday, October 13
Overview of the NMFC, including classification development, an explanation
of the four transportation characteristics and how packaging directly affects those
characteristics, and an introduction to the types and functions of packaging.
Module 2 – Tuesday, October 20
Detailed presentation of the NMFC’s minimum packaging requirements,
packaging rules, definitions and specifications, and the NMFC numbered packages
and laboratory test procedures.
Module 3 – Tuesday, October 27
Overview of packaging design, how packaging affects the classification of
freight and freight claims, information on special packaging, and examples of how to
read, understand and apply the NMFC’s minimum packaging requirements.
