Mike Zupon is the Vice President of Technology at Ward Transport and Logistics. His career began after earning an associate’s degree in Computer Programming. He worked in the Warehouse division of a Fortune 500 company, writing Assembler and COBOL code while also serving as Assistant Manager of the department. The operation supported deliveries to Sheetz, Uni-Mart, major grocery chains, and independent retailers, using state-of-the-art equipment for the time.
Mike later moved to Ward Trucking (now Ward Transport and Logistics) as a COBOL and RPG programmer. Over the years, after earning a bachelor’s degree in management and an MBA, he advanced through leadership roles including MIS Manager and Director of Information Technology to his current position. He considers it a privilege to work at Ward, given its strong reputation within the community and the transportation industry.
Throughout his career at Ward, he has worked closely with many departments, a hallmark benefit of working for a top-tier, midsize LTL company with a proud legacy. His experience includes working on the dock, assisting with dispatching, and participating in driver ride-alongs. Mike can often be heard sharing, “Every day is a new adventure in the LTL world.”
Mike has partnered with NMFTA’s cyber team and attended the NMFTA Cybersecurity Conference. Mike has led the way on panels by helping educate others on best practices and also helped guide critical topics such as vendor relationships. Mike is a driving force with the cyber team and his peers at the NMFTA Cybersecurity Conference.
