Erin Carter joined the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc.® (NMFTA)® as Director of Programs and Events in October 2022. She brings more than 25 years of experience in association and hospitality management, with a strong background in events, governance, membership engagement, and volunteer relations.
Prior to joining NMFTA, Erin served as Director of Programs at the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) and as Associate Executive Director at the AMC Institute. She also spent nearly eight years at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), where she supported 53 regional sections and subsections, leading initiatives in governance, event planning, and member engagement.
Earlier in her career, Erin held leadership roles in the hospitality industry, including Director of Revenue Management at the Hamilton Hotel in Washington, DC, and Regional Sales System Administrator for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. As part of Fairmont’s transition team, she played a key role in opening the Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya in Mexico.
Erin began her professional journey at the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA), starting as a receptionist and advancing to Director of Meetings. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), holds an Associate Degree from Northern Virginia Community College, and studied Organizational Management at George Mason University.
