NMFTA’s Standards for Cybersecurity In Transportation (SCIT) Council

For nearly a decade, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc.® (NMFTA)® has led the transportation industry in identifying, mitigating, and reducing cybersecurity risks. Each year we conduct and sponsor research to increase our understanding of security threats, to both heavy vehicles (assets) and internal systems (enterprise), that can impact our industry.

Given it’s expertise, NMFTA has created a new council: Standards for Cybersecurity In Transportation (SCIT).

We encourage you to learn more and get involved.

The NMFTA sponsors industry events such as the Car Hacking Village at one of the largest hacker events: DEFCON, to help develop the human talent needed to address this issue in the long term and help build a community of interest.

NMFTA frequently presents at state trucking association conferences and webinars, hosts tailored cybersecurity webinars for trucking industry non-profit associations, and more. We are passionate about this subject. If you’d like us to speak at your event, meeting, or webinar, submit a form today.

NMFTA also partners with other entities, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), government agencies, and private sector companies, to help create best practices and standards, educate, and build awareness of commercial transportation security issues.

NMFTA represents over 500 carriers who collectively operate over 200,000 trucks generating approximately $100 billion in freight revenue. Our members perform a vital service to our nation’s economy by delivering the goods necessary to keep commerce flowing. Protecting both the digital networks and the physical assets that support the delivery of goods throughout our supply chain is essential to all.
