SUMMARY:Unlocking the Potential of Seed Key Exchange
DESCRIPTION:The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) recently hosted a cybersecurity webinar\, Unlocking the Potential of Seed Key Exchange\, that took place on Thursday\, August 15\, 2024\, from 1:00-2:00 pm ET. NMFTA’s Joe Ohr and Ben Gardiner presented. \n\n\n\n\nAccess Recording\n\n\n\nDownload Whitepaper\n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\n\nAs vehicles become smarter and more connected\, the need for secure communication channels is critical. This session spotlighted seed-key exchange\, essential for maintaining data integrity and secure interactions. However\, despite its importance\, the seed-key exchange process can be surprisingly simple to exploit\, posing significant security risks. This webinar guided attendees through the technical landscape of seed-key generation\, distribution\, and validation\, helping them understand common vulnerabilities that cybercriminals exploit. \n\n\n\nAttendees gained insights into real-world case studies and strategies to enhance cybersecurity measures. Attendees left the session equipped with actionable knowledge to protect their heavy-duty vehicles against emerging threats. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Your Speakers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoe Ohr is the chief operating officer at the NMFTA. He brings to the organization over 20 years of experience in engineering product software\, gained from roles at Omnitracs\, Qualcomm\, and Eaton. Ohr has provided strategic guidance\, vision\, and a roadmap for addressing long-term customer challenges. He has played a key role in accelerating revenue growth and has collaborated closely with IT\, product\, and engineering teams to foster stronger partnerships with strategic customers and peers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBen Gardiner is a senior cybersecurity research engineer contractor at the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) specializing in hardware and low-level software security. Prior to joining the NMFTA team in 2019\, Gardiner held security assurance and reversing roles at a global corporation\, as well as worked in embedded software and systems engineering roles at several organizations. He is a DEF CON Hardware Hacking Village (DC HHV) volunteer\, the chair of the SAE TEVEES18A1 Cybersecurity Assurance Testing TF (drafting J3061-2)\, and a voting member of the SAE Vehicle Electronic Systems Security Committee. \n\n\n\nAccess Recording
