Attendance Criteria

Any officer, owner or employee of a motor carrier that is a member of NMFTA is eligible to attend the NMFTA meetings. The NMFTA Board of Directors has authorized up to two attendees per member company.

About the Event

NMFTA will be hosting three days of meetings and social activities offering many forums for discussion of issues important to the LTL motor carrier industry. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend our meeting at the Westin Old Town in Alexandria, VA from October 1-3, 2023.

8:30 – 9:00 AM	Packaging Subcommittee NMFTA’s Packaging Subcommittee reviews and evaluates industry needs for improved packaging and makes recommendations regarding proposals to amend packaging definitions, specifications or requirements, including rules relating to packaging, in the NMFC.
9:00 – 11:30 AM	Spouse/Guest Event – Mansion on O Street
9:00 – 9:45 AM	CRC Meeting NMFTA’s Classification Resource Committee (CRC) will discuss proposals on the Freight Classification Development Council (FCDC)’s current Docket, which includes many proposals that implement the Classification Reimagined goal of simplifying and clarifying the content of the NMFC. The CRC may also make recommendations and give advice regarding the Procedures for developing and maintaining the NMFC.
9:45 – 10:45 AM	Carrier Procedures Committee NMFTA’s Carrier Procedures Committee considers procedures and best practices, rules and regulations covering interline settlements, claims, and other related traffic matters, and develops model agreements for use by the membership.
10:45 – 11:30 AM	Regulatory Policy Committee/Clean Freight Coalition Update NMFTA’s Regulatory Policy Committee will feature our government affairs team as they share the latest on legislative and regulatory issues that impact your business, such as environmental regulations (Clean Freight Coalition), federal excise tax relief, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) legislation, Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) scores, and tracking implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), commonly known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The Committee will then set policy for our government affairs team to continue to advocate to ensure NMFTA’s voice is relevant and heard in our nation’s capital.
11:30 AM – 12:00 PM	Transportation from Spouse/Guest Event
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM	Wreaths Across America Panel Join us to learn how this remarkable nonprofit and the trucking sector work in tandem to honor our veterans, deliver wreaths to cemeteries nationwide, and inspire community engagement during the holiday season. We’ll hear from current participants AAA Cooper Transportation, Estes Express Lines, and Saia.

1:00 – 3:00 PM	Future of Classification Panel NMFTA is a carrier driven organization. However, we recognize the obligation we have to the shipping public to ensure that the classification provides value and does not add undue costs to the supply chain. Join carriers, shippers, and 3PLs to learn classification should be improved to the benefit of all parties.

7:45-8:30 AM	BOL Committee NMFTA’s Bill of Lading (BOL) Committee will review the most up-to-date information on who is using electronic bill of ladings (eBOL) and the details of the seven operational API’s outlined in the Roadmap at the June 2023 Digital LTL Council meeting.
8:30 – 10:30 AM	Strategic Planning We will continue our work with the guidance of Mary Power, to determine the future strategic priorities for NMFTA.
10:30 – 11:15 AM	FCDC The Freight Classification Development Council (FCDC) will meet to discuss proposed changes to the NMFC. Contribute to shaping more efficient and effective freight practices.
11:15 AM – 12:00 PM	NMFTA Membership Meeting Hear reports from all NMFTA committees on their current work. The vote for the next NMFTA Board of Directors will be held.
