NMFTA will be hosting its popular Packaging Webinar Series again in 2023 to
educate carriers, shippers, 3PLs, and packaging professionals in understanding
packaging and its relationship to motor freight classification and claims.

NMFTA Staff will provide detailed instruction in the NMFC packaging definitions, specifications and requirements, and how to properly apply the provisions of the National Motor Freight Classification^® (NMFC^®).

Module 1 – Tuesday, November 28

Overview of the NMFC, including classification development, an explanation
of the four transportation characteristics and how packaging directly affects those
characteristics, and an introduction to the types and functions of packaging.

Module 2 – tuesday, December 5

Detailed presentation of the NMFC’s minimum packaging requirements,
packaging rules, definitions and specifications, and the NMFC numbered packages
and laboratory test procedures.

Module 3 – tuesday, December 12

Overview of packaging design, how packaging affects the classification of
freight and freight claims, information on special packaging, and examples of how to
read, understand and apply the NMFC’s minimum packaging requirements.
