The association’s effort will help honor and remember the nation’s servicemembers who were laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (NMFTA)™ proudly announces that its Board of Directors will match all current wreaths sponsorships dollar-for-dollar, aiming to fill NMFTA’s first virtual truckload of wreaths in support of Wreaths Across America (WAA).
This initiative reflects NMFTA’s commitment to honoring veterans by partnering with WAA, a non-profit dedicated to placing wreaths on headstones at national cemeteries each December to pay tribute to the sacrifices of those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
NMFTA has set a goal of filling a virtual truckload with 5,000 sponsored veterans’ wreaths, reaching 21% of its target to date. With the Board’s matching pledge, NMFTA will double the impact of each sponsorship, helping ensure that more veterans’ wreaths reach servicemembers graves for placement by volunteers at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
“Supporting Wreaths Across America is an important way for NMFTA to honor the legacy of those who served our country,” said Debbie Sparks, executive director for the association. “This matching pledge from our Board of Directors invites our members, partners, and the public to join us in making this tribute even more impactful, ensuring that no hero is forgotten.”
In October, NMFTA Board member Mark Davis, vice president of pricing and traffic at Averitt Express, announced a $5,000 donation from his company to support NMFTA’s goal. “At Averitt Express, giving back to the community is at the heart of what we do, and supporting Wreaths Across America with NMFTA allows us to honor and remember those who have served our country,” he said. “This donation is our way of contributing to a meaningful cause, ensuring these heroes’ legacies are celebrated and remembered. We encourage others to join us in supporting this initiative, helping to make a lasting tribute possible for our nation’s servicemembers.”
